Training Frontline Workers in Satna Strengthens Family Planning Supply Tracking and Ensures Uninterrupted Access to Commodities

The Nodal Officer highlighted FPLMIS issues to the Chief Medical & Health Officer (CMHO), who directed immediate action. FPLMIS IDs were quickly generated for all ASHAs and ANMs across and rapid hands-on training sessions were organized. PSI India and the district health team jointly trained approximately 104 ASHAs and 45 ANMs on creating IDs, generating passwords, requesting family planning commodities, and maintaining inventory records.

The hands-on demonstrations and peer learning models helped workers understand the system with ease. Manisha Kushwaha, said: “Since September 2024, all ASHAs and ANMs across five Urban Community Health Centers and two UPHCs are successfully identifying family planning commodities themselves. This has led to improved data management, uninterrupted stock supply, and timely commodity distribution."

District authorities further reinforced the process by integrating FPLMIS tracking into monthly review meetings. Supervisors regularly monitored indenting practices and ensured timely resolution of stock-related issues. As a result, Satna’s family planning supply chain has transitioned from irregular and unmonitored processes to a structured, reliable, and sustainable system. Community members now experience consistent access to family planning methods and services—a significant step toward improved reproductive health outcomes in the city.

PSI India under Rapid Scale Initiative supported the creation of FPLMIS IDs for Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) and Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs), conducted hands-on trainings, and helped institutionalize the practice of routine data-driven reviews for commodity tracking in Satna.
