A New Chapter in the Life of Sahabganj UPHC
With PSI India’s support, our services became structured, data-driven, and far more effective. Today, women trust us, and we are confident in delivering PPIUCD services.”
The staff nurses and ANMs were coached on effective counseling skills, while ASHAs were strengthened to expand their outreach, dispel myths, and promote institutional deliveries and PPIUCD services. Engaging Mahila Arogya Samiti members further strengthened community participation and helped connect women to essential maternal and child healthcare services. National Health Mission officials actively participated in UPHC-level meetings, motivating the staff and boosting their confidence.
Regular ASHA–ANM meetings created a platform for sharing knowledge, reviewing progress, and addressing gaps. Meanwhile, PSI India introduced the UPHC staff to TCI University, enabling them to adopt evidence-based high-impact interventions and practices for family planning. With PSI India’s continued support, services gradually became more structured, data-driven, and effective in improving maternal health, child care, and family planning outcomes.
As a result of these collective efforts, the UPHC achieved what once seemed impossible. From having no PPIUCD insertions in 2021–22, the UPHC recorded an 80% insertion rate against total deliveries in 2022–23, which further increased to 95.7% in 2023–24. These achievements were celebrated in monthly review meetings, reinforcing the dedication and commitment of the UPHC team.
PSI India provided intensive coaching, hands-on mentoring, and technical support to strengthen PPIUCD services through The Challenge Initiative (TCI) India.
